Registered as African Resource Center of NC Inc, ARC, was formed in 2010 when a group of African-born residents of the triangle area of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill began to notice the challenges faced by the African community in the area. Officially forming it as a non-profit organization in July 2010, the ARC seeks to provide services; programs and consulting that address the needs of the most vulnerable segments of the African-born community. The ARC will be the most reliable and innovative resource for aid, support, and cultural interaction.
The ARC, Inc is recognized as a public charity organization described in Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is also recognized by the NC Department of Revenue as a tax-exempt organization. Financial contributions made to support the attainment of Mission of the organization are tax deductible.
Through the services provided by the ARC Africans in NC will be equipped with the ingredients they need in order to stabilize, connect, and participate effectively in American Society, develop and realize their dreams and contribute to the development of themselves, their community and humanity. The ARC is envisaged to grow exponentially in the next five years that it will need a building of its own comprising an administration block, a clinic, and a classroom.
The African Resource Center is guided by the principle of providing quality assurance to its stake holders through professionalism, transparency, accountability, gender equality, and client focus by its officers. The organization’s operational philosophy is based on the principle of support and empowerment with the belief that the end result will lead to a shared dynamic vision of a community’s future, which inspires members to work together to secure that future.
